Welcome to our “Day in the Life” at Chesapeake Pet Resort & Day Spa!
Our pet care operations run around the clock—often unseen, but always filled with dedicated, compassionate professionals who treat your pets like family. Every day brings new opportunities to provide comfort, care, and companionship. While no two days are ever exactly the same, here’s a behind-the-scenes snapshot of a “typical” day at our resort.
We take pride in providing spotless, comfortable accommodations so your pets can relax—and you can have peace of mind knowing they’re in loving hands. By the end of the day, our staff may be tired, but we’re proud of the care and attention we’ve given each guest.
🌅 Morning Routine
- 6:45 am – Morning staff arrives and begins the day with a safety briefing. Then comes the best part—greeting each pet (usually by name!) with a gentle wake-up visit.
- 7:00 am – Doggie doors go up, cabin doors open, and tails start wagging! Our canine guests head outside for their first potty and stretch session, while staff begins morning cleaning. Bedding is refreshed, water bowls refilled, and extra comforts are provided for seniors and arthritic pets. Feline friends enjoy their own inside “romp and stretch” playtime. Grooming and Doggie Daycare guests begin to arrive.
- 8:00 am – It’s breakfast time! Feeding and medications are carefully administered, tailored to each pet’s needs and logged for accuracy. The office opens, ready to welcome customers and calls.
☀️ Mid-Morning Activities
- 9:00 am – Pets who’ve signed up for “Extras” head out for nature walks, extra playtimes, or other special services. Outdoor cleaning begins, with yards scooped, sanitized, and prepared for the day’s fun. In warmer months, pools are scrubbed and filled for splash time!
- 10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Canine lodging guests head out for their second round of outdoor fun, while Doggie Daycare pups kick off their first group play session. Watching them reunite with their friends is always a joy!
🌸 Midday Calm
- 11:00 am – 3:00 pm – While the office closes to the public (Mon–Fri), the resort is still buzzing. Grooming guests finish up, meals and medications are administered, and lodging pets enjoy a well-deserved “quiet time.” Meanwhile, staff tackles behind-the-scenes work—administrative duties, laundry, cleaning, and tending to pets with special needs. (If we’re lucky, humans sneak in a lunch break too!)
🐾 Afternoon Fun
- 2:00 pm –Our evening crew arrives, holding a safety meeting and reviewing notes on special needs pets. Laundry and cleaning continue while Doggie Daycare guests enjoy their second play session. Another round of health and comfort checks is completed for all pets.
- 3:00 pm – The office reopens for afternoon check-ins, check-outs, and calls. Lodging dogs head out for their third playtime.
- 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm- Dinner and evening medications are provided, while Daycare friends get picked up by their families.
🌙 Evening Wind-Down
- 5:00 pm – The office closes, but pet care never stops.
- 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Staff prepares pets for bedtime with one last round of potty breaks, fresh bedding, and plenty of cuddles. Special “Extras,” Kong treats, and TV snuggle sessions make for cozy nights. By 7:00 pm, many guests are already snoozing after their big day of fun.
- 9:00 pm – 10:00pm – Every pet gets one final “last let-out.” Bedding and water are refreshed, and Kathy and Tim (who lives on-site) checks on pets throughout the night. Security cameras and audio surveillance are monitored closely. During significant storms, all pets are checked in on, no matter what time of night by Kathy and Tim, who lives on-site, regardless of time or weather as needed (aka "the fuzzy slipper run"). During blizzards, hurricanes, or other extreme weather, they remain on site at the resort with extra focus, just to be sure everyone is safe, no matter what.
