At Chesapeake Pet Resort, we pride ourselves on being more than just a boarding and daycare facility—we are a family dedicated to the well-being, happiness, and comfort of every pet entrusted to our care.
Chesapeake Pet Resort is proudly owned and operated by Kathy and Tim Ivey, along with their three sons, Austin, Luke, and Owen. Living right on the property, the Ivey family ensures a true family-run environment where pets receive the kind of attention and care they would at home. Kathy brings over eight years of professional dog training experience, along with a lifelong passion for animals that began in 4-H, working with both horses and dogs. Her dedication, hands-on expertise, and compassionate approach are at the heart of our mission: to provide top-quality, individualized care for every guest. Together, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment where pets can thrive.

Mary, Operations Manager
Mary has been part of the Chesapeake Pet Resort family since 2005 and brings a wealth of experience in pet care, grooming, and training. As Operations Manager, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the resort, ensuring that every pet and client receives the highest level of attention and care.
With certifications as a PCSA Certified Pet Care Technician, Advanced Pet Care Technician, and Red Cross Pet First Aid & CPR provider, along with specialized training in Animal T-Touch therapy, Mary’s expertise sets a high standard for our team. She also has extensive experience in staff management and scheduling, helping our resort run smoothly year-round.
Beyond her professional role, Mary has been involved with the Southern Maryland Search and Rescue Dogs group and has volunteered with local pet rescues. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, she now lives in Clements with her husband, three children, and their family’s beloved collection of pets.

Shawn, Pet Care Coordinator
Shawn joined Chesapeake Pet Resort and Day spa in July 2023, brining with her a lifelong passion for animals. Raised in a home filled with cats, dogs, birds and lizards, she developed a deep connection with animals from an early age. As a Reiki Master, Shawn also offers a unique ability to connect with pets on an energetic level, helping to support their well-being in a calm and compassionate way. Her gentle nature and intuitive care make her a valuable part of our team.

Jennifer has been working with dogs professionally since 1987 and became a certified groomer in 1989. She completed her Master Groomer program in 1996 and even competed in grooming competitions, later training other groomers to perform at that same high level.
Her passion for animals runs deep—she was involved in rescue and rehabilitation

Her passion for animals runs deep—she was involved in rescue and rehabilitation as a young adult. While living in North Carolina, she worked as a vet tech. Jennifer has spent her free time volunteering at the local shelter, clipping and cleaning pets so they’d have a better shot at finding loving homes. She even created her own small-animal rescue to save unwanted hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even peacocks from euthanasia due to a lack of rescue facilities. 💕
With decades of experience, a big heart, and incredible skill, Jennifer brings both passion and professionalism to every pet she grooms. We’re so lucky to have her on the team!

Meet Jacob, one of our talented and compassionate groomers! Jacob began his journey in the pet care world back in 2005, when he worked as a bather during summer vacation from school. In 2008, he began a formal apprenticeship under a Master Groomer, where he refined his skills and grew his passion for professional grooming.

Meet Jacob, one of our talented and compassionate groomers! Jacob began his journey in the pet care world back in 2005, when he worked as a bather during summer vacation from school. In 2008, he began a formal apprenticeship under a Master Groomer, where he refined his skills and grew his passion for professional grooming.
With years of hands-on experience, Jacob is especially proficient in feline grooming and has a gentle, patient touch with senior and special-needs pets, including those living with Cushing’s, Addison’s, or mobility challenges like tripaweds. His ability to provide careful, customized grooming makes him a trusted favorite among both pets and their families.
Outside of grooming, Jacob proudly served as a Marine, bringing the same dedication, discipline, and integrity to his work in pet care as he did to his service.
We’re proud to have Jacob on our team—he brings expertise, compassion, and a true love for animals to every grooming appointment.
